Bespoke automation & internal tools

Sometimes no product does exactly what you need. For those cases, small, focused pieces of software, such as automation scripts, internal tools and integrations, built securely and documented so your team can maintain them.

Why it matters

The right tool, not another platform

Infrastructure teams lose hours to repetitive tasks: exporting reports, provisioning accounts, copying data between systems. A well-written script or small internal tool can give that time back.

Bespoke development at Proton IT Services is deliberately small in scope. It focuses on automation and tooling that sit close to infrastructure, where a deep understanding of the systems involved matters as much as the code.

Every tool is written with secure defaults, stored in version control and documented, so it does not become a mystery that only one person can maintain.

What’s included

How I can help

01

Automation scripts

Python, Bash and Ansible automation for repetitive operational tasks such as provisioning, reporting, backups and health checks.

02

Internal tools

Small web or desktop applications that give your team a simple interface to complex systems, with proper authentication and logging.

03

Integrations

Connecting systems that do not talk to each other, using their APIs, such as monitoring, ticketing, identity and cloud platforms.

04

Reporting and dashboards

Automated reports on patch levels, compliance, capacity or costs, delivered on a schedule instead of compiled by hand.

05

CI/CD pipelines

Build and deployment pipelines in GitLab CI or GitHub Actions that test and release infrastructure code safely.

06

Code review and hardening

A security-focused review of existing scripts and tools, removing hard-coded secrets and unsafe practices.

How it works

From first call to handover

  1. Define

A short written specification of what the tool must do, who uses it and how success is measured.

  2. Build

Development in small steps with regular demonstrations, so you see progress and can adjust early.

  3. Test

Testing against real scenarios, with a security review before anything reaches production.

  4. Hand over

Source code, documentation and a walkthrough, with optional support afterwards.

What you receive

Deliverables

  • Source code in your own repository
  • Installation and usage documentation
  • Automated tests where appropriate
  • Security review notes
  • Handover walkthrough
FAQ

Common questions

Do you build websites or mobile apps?

Not as a general service. Bespoke development at Proton IT Services focuses on automation and internal tools closely tied to infrastructure and security.

Who owns the code?

You do. Source code and documentation are handed over at the end of the project, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Can you maintain the tool afterwards?

Yes, ongoing maintenance can be arranged. The tool is also documented so that your own team or another developer can take it over.
